Strategic Guidance for Institutional Reform and Human-Centered Policy

Transforming legacy historic preservation doctrine—whether in public policy or higher education—requires institutional vision and structural reform.

I advise university deans, department chairs, agency directors, municipal executives, and elected leaders seeking to reform public historic preservation policy, higher education curricula, and organizational strategy. My focus is on providing high-level guidance to leadership teams ready to integrate environmental psychology, social justice, and empirical social science into their core frameworks.

Core advisory areas

• Higher education curricular & programmatic reform: Partnering with academic leaders to audit and transform their built environment (e.g., historic preservation, planning, architecture, landscape architecture, interior design), cultural resource management, and public policy programs to maximize student career outcomes and to better serve the public.

• Public policy & legislative action: Advising government executives, municipal commissions, policy leaders, and elected officials on updating land-use, ordinance, and regulatory tools that balance the delicate relationship between people and older places while maximizing community and individual well-being.

• Research & policy project guidance: Advising think tanks, policy institutes, and research centers on integrating doctrinal foundations, policy history, and human-centered methodologies into people-place studies and public policy analyses that focus on some aspect of heritage.

• Executive sounding board: Serving as a confidential, high-level advisor for leaders navigating complex institutional shifts, pedagogical redesigns, or public policy controversies in the older built environment.
